The Vision

"Entertainment for Men".

In 1953, an archaic and albeit, iconic magazine defined woman as "playmate", thus giving them an image far from respect and adoration, and closer to that of a toy or a child.

Something that wasn't to be taken seriously.

Some "thing" that would shape the idea of women in media today.

Overtly sexualized, comically undervalued, and forever infantilized, forcing women to be more like a caricature than a person.

While this issue is not exclusive to women, it continues to be an ongoing theme in our current political climate.

So, let's fucking change it.

Singer and songwriter, Madison Merryman set out with a mission- rewrite the narrative and start a revolution.

Ballsy? For sure, but she didn't care.

As a victim of sexual violence and years of extreme misogyny, she wanted to reclaim the shame that she had been taught to carry like so many other victims have been taught to do.

Fuck the status quo.

She created her alter ego and artist name "The Succubus" to challenge the ancient demonization of women's innate sexuality, divinity and power. The Succubus represents far more than sex. She represents the polarization that those who speak out often face.

Succubus magazine is an extension of that, a forum for women and members of the LGBTQ+ community to express their identity and art through sexuality, horror, writing, art, photography and everything between.

And if that means showing some skin, then so be it.

So, what's in it?

Inside each issue is carefully curated content for the sapphic gaze. Meaning, this magazine was designed with women and LGBTQ+ members in mind.

This season's issue includes:

-illustrations made by founder, Madison Merryman. No AI was used to create Succubus Magazine and never will be.

-An article written to give a back story on where Madison came from and what fueled this call to action for the feminist community.

-Prose and response pieces written by other talented women in Quebec.

-Astrological art and advice based on the current season

-Rituals and magic remedies to help you find your own highest self and become the bad bitch we know you can be.

-Vintage themed art and ads to counter the billionaires' conservative and overtly capitalist agenda :)
